Grocery Bag Hanging Plant Holder
This hanging plant holder is made from grocery bags and liquor store bags. (AM/PM, Arco).
Supplies: Scissors, 6 to 8 bags, a ring.
Start by flattening bags out, trimming off the bottom seam, and handles. Open the bags up and flatten again.. Starting at the bottom , cut into single layer of the bag at an angle up to about 3 to 4 inches. Continue cutting until you have a long string. Continue this same process until all bags have been cut. You will need 20 to 24 strings about 3 to 4 times longer then the length you would like your plant holder.
Fuse the bags using wax paper process as described above.( folding the strings long ways.)
Loop each string onto your ring. Start tying simple square knots, using for strings. 1 on each side and 2 in the middle. Continue this for for 6 rows.
Row 7 , dropping down 15 to 20 inches pull 2 strings from side by side knots and tie another square knot. Continue all the way across row 7.
Row 8, dropping down 3 inches, use 2 strands from side by side knots and tie square knots all across row 8.
Row 9 - 12 Repeat row 8.
Row 13 - 22, Bring all strands together. This time using 3 strands on each side tie half of a square knot. Continue tying half a square knot always starting from the same side. This will cause the knotted area to spiral.
When finished cut off strings leaving about 8 to 10 inches.
Put your plant in!
